Welcome to www.calligraphity.com newsletter for September!!

How was summer for you? Mine was, for the most part, wet and not warm apart from the earlier this month when we managed to get a couple of weeks in beautiful New England in the USA. So that’s why this posting is happening so late in the month but I think it has been worth waiting for as I have some HOT NEWS!!

Stan Knight’s long awaited new book Historical Types – from Gutenberg to Ashendene will be available from www.calligraphity.com around the middle of October. I have seen a preview copy courtesy of Ewan Clayton and I am really impressed with the book. It is an ideal companion book for Historical Scripts and if you have not already got a copy of Historical Scripts there is a bit of a treat in store for you. If you order both books you can save 12% off the list price.

It is available for pre-order so that you can be one of the first to own a copy. Please see my Book of the Month page for more information.

And the news gets better…

I have just received my first copies of Katharina Peiper’s new book called Wurzeln und Flügel (or Roots and Wings) where she relates her 30 years as a calligrapher and teacher of calligraphy and catalogues her 2012 exhibition. This is a fabulous book packed with stunning pieces of her work.  This is a dual language book (German / English). I have also loaded two smaller catalogues from Katharina one of which also contains works from Jean Larcher. There are links from the Wurzeln und Flügel page to these other books.

Also, for the pointed pen amongst us, I have a new book on flourishing from American calligrapher Linda Schneider called Designing Faces, Figures, Florals and more which is full of great examples and lessons on ornate pictorial calligraphy.

See my previous posts for information on other new books that I have recently loaded. These can be accessed at the bottom of the home page.

For those in the UK we will have all our books with us when we are with the Calderdale Calligraphers in the Halifax area on October 6th and with North West Calligraphers in Bebington on October 13th. Please look at my Calligraphity on the Road page for contact details if you are interested in coming alone to either of those events.

More news in a few weeks

Happy writing!!
